A warm welcome to Victoria House
Set by the seafront in Ryde, Isle of Wight, Victoria House offers residential elderly care for long-term stays, convalescence care, respite breaks, or holidays.
Why Choose Victoria House?
Victoria House is a detached property of an indeterminate age (the earliest record being 1810). Our care home is located in a quiet conservation area of Ryde overlooking the Solent. The Esplanade and the beach are close by, while the town centre is within a few minutes walk. We cater for stays of any length, permanent, long term, respite, convalescent or holiday.
We recognise that although age brings infirmities requiring sympathetic help it does not diminish the need for friendship, laughter, stimulation, and personal achievement.
The accommodation we provide is designed to make our residents feel comfortable in their surroundings. We actively encourage residents to decorate their room with their own belongings to promote a sense of familiarity. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and all have en suite or private toilet facilities.
To the right is the incredible sea view from the main lounge; we also have a smaller lounge where residents can relax or meet with visitors.
At the rear of the house, there are large landscaped gardens where residents can sit or enjoy a spot of gardening.
Victoria House Care Home specialises in the care of the elderly. Our experienced staff team are dedicated to the provision of quality personal care in an environment, which maximises the independence, dignity and social well being of our clients.
Activities at Victoria House
Being active and learning new things is something everyone enjoys. We recognise that activities can help a person feel connected to normal life and helps to maximise choice and control. They provide an opportunity for fun and playfulness and encourage independence, social inclusion, communication and expression of feelings.
Our activities program is designed around the hobbies and interests of all our residents - our activity coordinators work with members of the community to bring them into our home to engage with residents, as well as to encourage our residents to become involved in their local communities.
We understand that choosing the right care home is a big decision and one that should be made with assistance from relatives and loved-ones. We encourage prospective residents and family members to assist in visits to ensure they feel comfortable in our home.
Our comfortable surroundings and incredible sea views are designed to make our residents feel safe and for in a luxurious environment where their choice and dignity is a priority.
What should I do next?
Victoria House is a very homely care home. I have found the managers and carers to be caring and very professional. They have done a great job keeping covid out of the home under difficult times. My relative is often praising their kindness, nice food, and enjoyable entertainment. I hope the home will
continue to be a great place to work and live for all involved.
- B D (Niece of Resident) November 2021
My Dad has been in care since January 21, we moved him to Victoria House from another care home on the island in August 21. The move was made because we live in Ryde and it's easier for us to visit him there, but we also had concerns that he was spending too much time on his own in the previous home and he was becoming very withdrawn. Almost immediately after the move we noticed an improvement in his well-being and his engagement with us. Victoria House has a lovely 'homely' feel to it and the residents are treated as part of the 'family' by the staff. From what I have seen there is a lot of interaction between the staff and the residents.
I have no hesitation in recommending Victoria House.

All staff are very friendly and caring, they are always very cheerful too.
JA (relative) October 2023
My husband spent the last six months of his life at Victoria House Care Home. He had previously spent six months in another home and he was not treated well. At Victoria House he was happy and he was treated with respect. All the staff were wonderful and my husband was comfortable and happy there. (2021-2022)
I also spent two weeks of respite care at Victoria House. I was treated very well and was happy.
Resident & NOK - June 2023
I have been visiting Victoria House on a weekly basis in my role - management and all the staff have embraced my role and always made me feel welcome. Staff all work well with residents and their family members to ensure that each person is cared for in a person centred way. Staff are confident to talk to the residents about their healthcare and having difficult conversations with residents and their relatives, making sure everyone who the resident wants to be involved is. Management lead by example showing care and compassion to the residents and this is followed through by all the staff.
