Victoria House
A Home Where Every Resident Matters
At Victoria House, we do things differently. We’re a small, welcoming care home on the Isle of Wight that puts people before paperwork, stories before statistics, and individual needs before routines. Every resident arrives with their own history, preferences, quirks, and comforts, and we make it our mission to honour all of them.
We get to know each resident properly, with the support of family and loved ones, so we can build a care plan that actually reflects who they are. From their favourite morning drink to their lifetime passions, we use every detail to create a warm, personalised experience that feels like home, because it is.
Person-Centred Support
No two residents are the same, so no two care plans should be either. We take time to understand individual needs, habits, routines, and preferences, shaping daily life around what makes each person comfortable and happy.
A Safe and Supportive Environment
Our home is designed to feel calm, friendly, and familiar. Residents have the independence to enjoy each day at their own pace, with trained staff on hand to offer support whenever it’s needed.
Compassionate, Qualified Staff
Our team is made up of kind, dedicated carers who treat every resident with patience, respect, and genuine affection. We build real connections, the type that make residents feel understood, valued, and supported.
Family Involvement
Families aren’t “visitors” here, they’re part of our community. We work closely with loved ones to understand each resident’s life story, routines, and personal preferences. That insight helps us provide care that truly feels tailored.
Victoria House
Life at Victoria House
We believe life doesn’t stop when someone moves into care. It simply evolves.
Each day at Victoria House is shaped around connection, comfort, and joy, whether that’s meaningful conversation, shared meals, music, gentle activities, or quiet time. We create a space where residents can feel safe, respected, and free to simply be themselves.

Operations Manager & Nominated Individual
Claire Leggett
As the Operations Manager and Nominated Individual for Victoria House, I oversee the operational running of the service, supporting the management team to provide the highest standards of care, safety and support to our residents.
My role involves offering guidance and support to the wider team while maintaining an overview of the service. I work closely with our Registered Manager and Operations Administrator, focusing on governance, quality assurance and continuous improvement to help ensure we meet regulatory standards and our residents’ needs and expectations.
I have worked in health and social care for over 15 years, starting my journey as a Carer and progressing through a variety of roles to my current position. This hands-on experience has given me a deep understanding of the challenges and rewards that come with providing high-quality, person-centred care.
I hold a Level 5 qualification in Leadership in Health and Social Care and am working towards completing my Level 7 Senior Management qualification. I also champion staff mental health and well-being, helping to create a supportive working environment where everyone feels valued.
Person-centred care remains at the heart of my approach. I believe that supporting our team, maintaining strong governance and continually reviewing how we work helps us provide a safe, welcoming and homely environment for the people who live at Victoria House.
Outside of work, life is just as busy! I am a proud mum to my young son, Oscar, and we enjoy spending quality time together.
Registered Manager
Lydia Bennett
Deputy Manager & HR Support
Sarah Cottell
I am the Deputy Manager and HR Support at Victoria House, bringing 26 years of health and social care experience to the management team. Alongside Registered Manager Lydia and Head of Care Sophie, I work to ensure our care remains highly efficient, compliant, and person-centred.
My journey in care began at 17, advancing from a carer in a dementia specialist care home to becoming a Registered Manager by age 23. Over my career, I have managed care facilities, assisted to launch a new care home in Ryde, and worked across multiple sites as a quality assurance auditor. I hold an NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care, the Registered Managers Award, and am currently completing my CIPD Level 5 to elevate our team support and HR practices.
When I am not supporting our wonderful staff and clients, I am a busy mum of five who loves family holidays and weekend adventures.
Operations Administrator
Trudi Chamberlain
As an Operations Administrator, I work closely with the Operations Manager and the wider team to help ensure Victoria House runs smoothly and continues to provide the highest standards of care to our residents. My role focuses on supporting the operational side of the service and working alongside Claire on governance, helping to maintain good practice and a positive, supportive working environment.
I have worked within the care sector for 17 years. I started in the community, visiting clients in their own homes and supporting them to remain as independent as possible. From there, I moved into working night shifts in a care home and progressed to Deputy Manager.
During this time, I gained my Level 3 in Health and Social Care, followed by my Level 5 in Health and Social Care Leadership and Management.
I first joined Victoria House in December 2018 as Deputy Manager. After a short break away, I returned as Head of Care in 2023 before moving back into the Deputy Manager role. I have now taken on the role of Operations Administrator, bringing my experience in care and management to supporting the Operations Manager and the wider team.
Person-centred care is very important to me. I believe the people we care for deserve the very best care we can provide, along with dignity and respect, in a safe and homely environment. Although my role now focuses on operations and administration, these values remain at the heart of everything I do.
I am a family-oriented person. I have two daughters, three granddaughters and one grandson, and in my free time I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, enjoying my garden and curling up with a good book on a quiet day.
