Meet the Team

Lucy Hayward

Registered Manager

I have been working in the care sector since I left school in 1990. I started as a Care Assistant in a small private home, this sparked my passion for care and the importance of providing service users a high standard of person centred care. I worked there for a number of years, before leaving to start a family.

I returned to working in care once my children were older. Before my employment at Victoria House,  I worked my way up from a Care Assistant to a Relief Deputy Manager. During this time, I completed the NVQ Level 2  and 3 in Health and Social Care, along with train the trainer course, so that I could share my knowledge and train staff in mandatory topics, to a high standard. I joined Victoria House in 2021, as the homes Deputy Manager. I have since completed my Level 5 in Leadership and Management, and became the homes Registered Manager in June 2023. I am committed to working with all of the staff, residents and families at Victoria House to ensure we provide a high standard of person centred care and strive to do our best for those we care for.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren and going on long walks with our dog.

Claire Leggett

Operations Manager / Nominated Individual

I have worked with the Health & Social Care sector for over 15 years in a wide variety of roles, from a Carer, Care Coordinator, Regional Trainer, Registered Manager and with new business startups across the North and South of England in both domiciliary and residential settings.

For the last 5 years I have worked as the Registered Manager of Victoria House as well as overseeing HR and Compliance in our sister home in Cornwall. I was particularly proud of my team through Covid, when we lived in the care home to protect the residents – something we will never forget – ensuring the residents were safe.

My role now is the Operations Manager for Victoria House where I oversee the business and support the RM.

Over the years this has given me great knowledge and experience within Health & Social Care as I continue now to focus on more of the operational/business side of the care home which I really enjoy.

I have my qualification in Level 5 Leadership in Health & Social Care Management, and I am currently working towards a Level 7 Senior Management qualification and CIPD in HR and People Management.

When I am not at work, I enjoy spending quality time with my son Oscar and enjoy family holidays abroad.

Trudi Chamberlain

Head of Care

I have worked within the care sector for 17 years, I started working within the community visiting clients in their own homes and supporting them to remain as independent as possible. From there I went to working night shifts in a care home and worked my up to senior carer and then to Deputy Manager.

At that time I gained my level 3 in Health and social care and then my level 5 in health and social care leadership and management.

I first joined Victoria House in December 2018 as Deputy Manager, I am now working in the role of Head of Care which I enjoy immensely, giving me important time to spend with our residents.

Person centred care is very important to me and I believe the people we care deserve only the very best care that we can provide along with dignity and respect, in a safe and homely environment.

I am family-oriented person and live with my husband. I have two daughters, two granddaughters and one grandson and in my free time I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends, as well as enjoying my garden and curling up with a good book on a quiet day.

Donna McComb

Team Leader

I started working in the care sector in 2006 through work experience at school and instantly fell in love with helping people. I feel I have a true passion for helping the elderly.

Throughout my working I have taken on a variety of different roles within the care sector including an care assistant, night worker, head of care, RM and NVQ/Diploma assessor, helping care staff achieving their qualifications and enabling them to progress in their own careers. 

I myself have got a variety of qualifications through the care industry and also teaching qualification and roles myself which I feel enables me to be more supportive to colleagues. 

I originally joined Victoria house in May 2023 as a care assistant and have progressed during my time there. Now working as a Team leader, helping in the office and supporting with staff.

When I am not working I am enjoying time with my family and helping as a Leader of a church-based youth group called The Girls' Brigade. Our group 3rd Ryde Girls’ Brigade is run on a Wednesday evening during school term time. This allows me to gain more life experiences dealing with young children, helping them in every aspect of life.

Jessica Holbrooke

Administrator

Hello, I'm Jess. I've been working with Victoria House for just over a year, although my background isn't within the care sector; my mum has dedicated her career to care, which has inspired me in countless ways. While my current role isn't directly related to care, I've picked up some useful skills along the way. I joined Victoria House in August 2022 as an administrator, where I've had the privilege of supporting the incredible work of our team.

When I'm not at Victoria House, I cherish spending time with my family making memories and going on adventures together.
